WHO WE ARE
DREAMWEEK JAX is a celebration of the City of Jacksonville, Fla. as the city of dreamers, occurring each January during the week of the national Martin Luther King Jr holiday and National Day of Service. The mission of DREAMWEEK JAX is to showcase Jacksonville Florida as the Dream City of the millennia in culture, arts, business, and social progress. This recognition and celebration of Jacksonville’s evolution as a dream city since its founding in 1562 is long overdue. DREAMWEEK JAX was co-founded by Dr. V Brooks Dunbar and Senior Master Sergeant Kenneth Roy Dunbar Jr. (U.S. Air Force, Retired) as a way to elevate individuals, groups and organizations in downtown Jacksonville, Duval County, and the First Coast by promoting community engagement and cross-communication.
​DREAMWEEK INC is a registered 501 (c)3 nonprofit agency with a mission to promote social progress and community engagement through the lens of Dr. King's dream. Although social progress themes may change each year, program themes have included youth, education, health, women, entrepreneurship, and community safety.

DREAMWEEK JAX is a one-of-a-kind, multi-dimensional, multi-day event. It includes everything from engaging community events, unique partnerships, a DREAMTelling Event (watch out TEDx), and an outstanding DREAMWEEK SUMMIT. The events & activities leading up to it are designed to strengthen the bonds between established and emerging groups, organizations, and nonprofits in Duval County and the greater First Coast.
DREAMWEEK JAX provides an increasingly rare opportunity for cross-sector communication and engagement. Meet, greet and share ideas with the individuals and organizations who are growing and sustaining Jacksonville, Florida, as we showcase the best the city has to offer as a downtown destination and beyond.

DREAMWEEK JAX produces events in January of each year and partners with individuals, organizations and groups to provide a platform for them to promote their initiatives and grow their community.
